UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS Graduate Credentials in Autism Spectrum Disorders

This campaign launched UST's online graduate credentials in autism spectrum disorders. This campaign was tricky, with many sensitivities outlined by stakeholders. The university wanted to play down the concept of disability and emphasize that every child with autism is unique; there is no one-size-fits-all approach to teaching them. Teachers must assess each individual, discover their strengths and weaknesses, and maximize strengths to make these students as successful and independent as possible.

Equally as important, I was asked to stay clear of any inference that special ed teachers are heroes. Stakeholders stressed that these teachers aren't motivated by money or recognition, but instead possess a genuine passion for teaching these children and making a difference. My theme of "Learn Their Language, Unlock Their Potential," spoke to both of these points.
